2022-2023 TRYOUT FAQ

Does my player have to attend all tryout dates for their age group?

We strongly encourage all players to attend more than one tryout to ensure that all of our coaches are able to get a thorough look at each players' skill set.

What happens if my player can not attend any of the listed tryout dates?

If your son or daughter is unable to attend any/ all of our 2022-2023 tryout dates, please email us at info@route2athletics.com to schedule a private tryout on a mutually agreeable date.

When will we know if my player has made a team?

We will notify selected players 3-5 days after the last tryout date to allow our coaching staff to compare player notes and make roster decisions for each team.

How will my player find out if they made a team?

An email will be sent to the email(s) provided during tryout registration detailing the offer to join the Route 2 Baseball program, including the team your player has been selected for and the team specific contract details - including tuition cost, off-season start dates, in-season details, etc.

How many teams will you have at each age group?

We are planning to field 1-2 teams at each of the following age groups: 11u, 12u, 13u and 14u. We will also be fielding one High School Freshman team, one 2026 College Prospect Tournament team, one 2025 College Prospect Team Tournament team, one 2024 College Prospect and one 16u-18u Team.

Our 11-14u teams as well as our non-College Prospect Teams will compete in the Massachusetts New Balance Select League.

What is the typical off-season schedule for practice?

In 2022-2023 we are offering players to train a la carte during the months of November and December. Beginning January 2023, our Route 2 Blue Sox teams will have two practices per week. One weekly practice will focus on developing the players hitting skills, while the second weekly practice will focus on both individual and team defense - held at The Edge Sports Bubble in Bedford, MA or the Winchester Sports Complex in Winchester, MA. More on this to come...

How many players are typically on each roster?

Our roster sizes vary by team and age group; we typically have 12-15 players per team across the 11-14u age group. Our High School and College Prospect teams, we allow for expanded rosters - given multiple four game weekends and weeklong tournament schedules, in addition to players taking on 'pitcher only' roles.

What does my player have to bring to tryouts?

How many games should we expect our player and team to play?
